Configure IAS port information

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

To configure IAS port information

  1. Open Internet Authentication Service.

  2. Right-click Internet Authentication Service, and then click Properties.

  3. Click the Ports tab, and then examine the settings for ports. If your RADIUS authentication and RADIUS accounting UDP ports vary from the default values provided (1812 and 1645 for authentication, and 1813 and 1646 for accounting), type your port settings in Authentication and Accounting.

To use multiple port settings for authentication or accounting requests, separate the port numbers with commas.

Notes

  • To open Internet Authentication Service, click Start, click Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Internet Authentication Service.

  • To configure a remote IAS server, you must have administrative credentials on the remote server.

  • The values of 1812 for authentication and 1813 for accounting are RADIUS standard ports defined in RFCs 2865 and 2866. However, many access servers use ports 1645 for authentication requests and 1646 for accounting requests by default. Whatever port numbers you decide to use, make sure that IAS and your access server are configured to use the same ones.

  • You can specify an IP address to which the RADIUS messages must be sent with the following syntax: IPAddress**:**UDPPort. For example, if you have multiple network adapters and you only want to receive RADIUS authentication messages sent to the IP address of 10.0.0.99 and UDP port 1812, you would type 10.0.0.99:1812 in Authentication.

Information about functional differences

  • Your server might function differently based on the version and edition of the operating system that is installed, your account permissions, and your menu settings. For more information, see Viewing Help on the Web.
