Enable or disable a library

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

To enable or disable a library

  1. Open Removable Storage.

  2. In the console tree, double-click Libraries.

  3. Right-click the library you want to enable or disable, and then click Properties.

The library Properties dialog box appears.

  4. On the General tab, verify that the Enable library check box is selected.

Or, to disable the library, clear the Enable library check box.

Notes

  • To complete this procedure, you need the appropriate administrative credentials for the affected Removable Storage item. To maintain system security, rather than logging in as an administrator, log in as a user without administrative credentials, and run Removable Storage as an administrator by right-clicking the Computer Management icon, clicking Run As, and choosing an account in the local Administrators group.

  • To open Removable Storage, click Start and then click Control Panel. Double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Computer Management. In the console tree, double-click Storage and then click Removable Storage.

  • Disabling a library makes it unavailable for use.

Information about functional differences

  • Your server might function differently based on the version and edition of the operating system that is installed, your account permissions, and your menu settings. For more information, see Viewing Help on the Web.
