Notes

  • To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Administrators group on the local computer. If the computer is joined to a domain, members of the Domain Admins group might be able to perform this procedure. As a security best practice, consider using Run as to perform this procedure.

  • For information about how to open Security Configuration Wizard (SCW), see Related Topics.

  • To apply or roll back a security policy that you have created with SCW, SCW must be installed on the selected server. When creating or editing a security policy, you can select a server that does not have SCW installed. In either case, the selected server must always be a computer running a member of the Windows Server 2003 family with Service Pack 1.

  • Do not end the SCW task while policy configuration is in progress as this can leave the server in a partially configured state. A policy should instead be rolled back after it has been applied to the system.
