Send Feedback

You can configure settings for core services you want to run on the target device.

For more information about this dialog box, see Target Device Connectivity Options Dialog Box.

  • Target device
Select the name of the logical device you want to configure the connection to.

  • (Optional) Associated run-time image
Navigate the directory tree to select the run-time image you want to associate with the target device.

Configure options for downloading the run-time image to the target device.

The following table shows the available options:

    Option Description
Always Select to download the run-time image to the target device when the device is reset.
Only if image changed Select to download the run-time image to the target device only if the timestamp on the run-time image has changed from the last download.

The assumption is that you download the same run-time image to the same target device during the current Platform Builder session.

Only on initial download Select to download the run-time image the first time you connect to the target device for download.

During subsequent reboots of the target device, the run-time image is not downloaded, even if it has been updated.

Never (jump to image only) Select to jump to the run-time image on the target device only.

No run-time image is downloaded, because the assumption is that the run-time image is already loaded on the target device.

  • KITL Settings
Configure KITL options for the connection to the target device.

For more information, see Kernel Independent Transport Layer.

The following table shows the available options:

    Option Description
Enable KITL on device boot Select to boot the target device in Active KITL mode.

If the run-time image contains KITL, the target device does not boot until the development workstation is connected to the device.

If this is not selected, the run-time image boots in passive KITL mode. You can switch to active KITL mode by causing an exception on the target device.

Clear memory on soft reset Select to clear the contents of the target device memory when the device undergoes a soft reset, either from Platform Builder, or from using the hardware itself.

If this is not selected, the contents of the memory on the target device, which can include files created or registry changes, are not cleared during a soft reset.

Note   If this option is not selected, preserving the contents of the memory requires support from OEM source code.
Enable access to desktop files Select to enable Relfsd, which enables you to load files in the flat release directory from the target device.

If this is not selected, the files in the flat release directory are not accessible from the target device.

Note   This must be selected to enable you to use remote tools. For more information, see Remote Tools.
