You can choose to perform a search for a string in multiple source files.

To find a string in multiple source files

The Find In Files command supports two output panes. This allows you to conduct a second search through multiple files without losing the results from your first search.

  1. Choose Find In Files from the Edit menu.
  2. Type the search string or use the list to select from up to 16 previous search strings in the Find What box.
  3. Type or select from the list the file types you want to search in the In Files/File Types box.
  4. Select the folder that you want to search in the In Folder box.
  5. Choose the Browse button to display the Choose Directory dialog box if you want to change drives and directories.
  6. If necessary, select one or more of the Find options.
  7. If you want to direct the search output to a second Find in Files pane, select the Output To Pane 2 check box.
