Windows CE Modules and Components (Windows CE 5.0)

You can build a Microsoft® Windows® CE–based OS design by using a number of discrete modules. This minimizes the memory needed by the run-time image. By selecting only those modules that your target device requires, you can minimize the amount of memory that it uses.

A module contains a collection of related application programming interface (API) functions. Some modules are composed of components. Each component can contain a collection of API functions.

Certain modules, such as coredll and gwes, contain one or more optional components. Each of these modules provides full or partial support for major features of the operating system (OS) and can be tailored to the needs of a specific embedded application.
