Indexing Service is no longer supported as of Windows XP and is unavailable for use as of Windows 8. Instead, use Windows Search for client side search and Microsoft Search Server Express for server side search.
The ForcePathAlias entry controls under what conditions path aliasing is applied to query results.

Remarks
Set the value of the ForcePathAlias entry to zero if query results are to undergo path aliasing only for remote query clients. Set the value to one if query results are to undergo path aliasing for both local and remote query clients.
