Viewing and filtering Virtual Server events
Viewing and filtering Virtual Server events
When you encounter issues with the functioning of Virtual Server or virtual machines, a good place to find information about possible sources of the problem is the Virtual Server event log. The Administration Website provides you with two views of the event log:
- Recent events. You can view recent events for this instance of Virtual Server by clicking Master Status in the navigation pane. The Recent Events pane appears in the lower section of the page. The number of events displayed is configurable from the Administration Website Properties page.
- **All events.**You can view all events for this instance of Virtual Server by clicking Event Viewer in the navigation pane. On this page, you can filter events to view a subset of them, as follows: all events, Virtual Server events, virtual hard disk operation events, preference change events, events for a given virtual machine. By default, this page displays 20 recent events. This number is configurable from the Administration Website Properties page.
Note
To view events, you must have View permissions for the Virtual Server event log. You can configure this on the Virtual Server Security Settings page of the Administration Website. For more information, see Configuring Virtual Server security settings. You can also view events for Virtual Server and change options such as the event log size by using Event Viewer in the host operating system.
For detailed instructions on viewing and filtering events from the Administration Website, see View Virtual Server events.
