Administration of Related Server Technologies
In addition to performing administrative tasks in the Windows EBS Administration Console, you can perform administrative tasks directly in the related server technologies that are included with Windows EBS. The Administration Console provides contextual links to switch directly to management consoles on the servers for Windows EBS or to perform more specialized or advanced tasks.

Administrative tasks that use Remote Desktop Connection or RemoteApp
The Windows EBS Administrative Console is configured to use Remote Desktop Connection and Terminal Services RemoteApp™ to start tasks on the Security Server and the Messaging Server.
Remote Desktop Connection is the client application for Terminal Services that is included with Windows Server 2008. To help you monitor the services and technologies that are installed on the Security Server and Messaging Server, the Administration Console provides tasks to start Remote Desktop Connection sessions to those servers. When you start a Remote Desktop Connection session, you must type appropriate credentials to log on to the computer.
Note
Depending on your administrative needs, you can configure the Remote Desktop Connection client on the Management Server to save the credentials you use to connect to a particular computer or to require you to enter credentials each time you start a session. For more information, see Remote Desktop Connection Help: In Windows Server 2008, click Start, and then click Help and Support.
Terminal Services RemoteApp is a technology in Windows Server 2008 that makes remotely accessed applications appear as they do if they are running on the user's local computer. The Windows EBS Administration Console provides tasks that use RemoteApp to start administrative consoles or wizards on the Security Server and Messaging Server (such as the Forefront TMG console and the Exchange Server Management Console). These RemoteApp sessions start like applications on the local computer, and they automatically use the same administrative credentials that you use to run the Windows EBS Administration Console on the Management Server.
