Before you can enable SSL encryption, your system must meet these conditions:

  • The database computer must be running an instance of SQL Server 2000 or later and be assigned a server certificate from a public certificate authority.

  • The application must use the client components from SQL Server 2000 or later, and the application computer must be assigned a root CA certificate from the same certificate authority that issued the server certificate to the database computer. The application must connect to an instance of SQL Server 2000 or later.

  • You must be a member of the sysadmin fixed server role.

    Observação importanteImportante

Setting the SuperSocketEncrypt property changes registry settings, and should be used with caution.

    ObservaçãoObservação

If an application calls SuperSocketEncrypt on an instance of SQL Server version 7.0, the constant, SQLDMO_E_SQL80ONLY, and the message "This property or method requires Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or later" are returned.
