How to: Host an InfoPath Form in the InfoPath Form Web Part

This topic shows how to host an InfoPath form in the InfoPath Form Web Part. Before you can use the InfoPath Form Web Part you must do one of the following to provide a browser-enabled InfoPath form that can be hosted in the Web Part:

  • Publish a browser-enabled form from Microsoft InfoPath 2010 to a form library on Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010.

  • Customize the form associated with a SharePoint list in InfoPath 2010 by opening the list on SharePoint Server 2010, clicking List under List Tools on the ribbon, and then clicking Customize Form. When you finish customizing the form in InfoPath 2010, click the Quick Publish button to publish it back to the site.

To host an InfoPath form in the InfoPath Form Web Part

  1. To create a new Web Part page, follow these steps.

    1. Click Site Actions, and then click More Options.

    2. Under Filter By, click Page, click Web Part Page, and then click Create.

    3. Name the page, select the Layout Template you want to work with, specify the Document Library where you want to save the Web Part Page, and then click Create.

  2. Otherwise, open an existing Web Part page, click the Page tab, and then click Edit on the ribbon.

  3. Click the zone on the page where you want to insert the Web Part, click Insert under Page Tools on the ribbon, and then click Web Part.

  4. Click the Forms category, click InfoPath Form Web Part, and then click Add.

  5. Click Click here to open the tool pane in the Web Part to open the InfoPath Form Web Part tool pane.

  6. In the List or Library list in the tool pane, select a document library that contains a browser-enabled InfoPath form, or a list with a form that was customized in InfoPath 2010.

  7. If you selected a list, select Display a read-only form in the tool pane if you do not want users to edit the data displayed in the form.

  8. In the Views list in the tool pane, select the form view that you want to open by default in the Web Part.

  9. If applicable, in the Submit Behavior list in the tool pane, select the action to perform after the form is submitted.

  10. Set any other properties under the Appearance, Layout, and Advanced categories of the tool pane as necessary.

  11. Click OK at the bottom of the tool pane to save your changes to the Web Part.
