Step 8: Set Up the Demonstrating FIM 2010 R2 Outlook Add-in Environment
In order to manage group requests and approvals in FIM 2010 R2 we must first configure our environment. The following steps will guide you through configuring the test lab to demonstrate this.
Create Groups in FIM Portal on FIM1
Run the Management Agents
Install the Rich-client on CLIENT1 and CLIENT2
Create Groups in FIM Portal on FIM1
First we will create a few groups for our environment.
To Create Groups in FIM Portal on FIM1
Log on to FIM1 as CORP\Administrator.
In Internet Explorer, in the address bar at the top, enter https://fim1/identitymanagement and hit enter. This should bring up the Forefront Identity Manager 2010 page.
On the FIM 2010 R2 home page, click Distribution Groups (DGs) on the Navigation Bar.
Click New, and then enter the information for Marketing Strategy Discussion from the table below. In Members to Add, remove Administrator and the owner from the chart below.
On the Owners tab remove Administrator from Owner and Displayed Owner and the owner from the list below.
Click Finish, and then click Submit.
Repeat these steps for the remaining groups.

Run the Management Agents
Now we will run the management agents to synchronize and provision our newly created ISD group. Run the management agents in the order in the table below.

To run the AD MA
Log on to FIM1 as CORP\Administrator
Open the Synchronization Service Manager, and on the Tools menu, click Management Agents.
For each row in the previous table, complete the following steps:
In the Management Agents list, select the management agent shown for that row in the table.
To open the Run Management Agent dialog box, on the Action menu, click Run.
In the Run profiles list, select the run profile shown for that row in the table, and then click OK to start it.
Install the Rich-client on CLIENT1 and CLIENT2
In this section we will install the rich-client on CLIENT1 and CLIENT2.
To install the Rich-client on CLIENT1 and CLIENT2
Click Start, click All Programs, and then click Internet Explorer (64-bit). This will open Internet Explorer.
Navigate to the directory that contains the binaries for Forefront Identity Manager 2010 R2 and double-click FIMSplash.htm. This will bring up the Forefront Identity Manager 2010 R2 splash screen.
On the splash screen, click Install Add-ins and Extensions, 64 bit. You will see a pop-up that says Do you want to run or save this file? Click Run. This will take a minute. Then you will see another pop-up asking Do you want to run this software? Click Run. This will start the Forefront Identity Manager 2010 R2 Add-ins and Extensions Setup Wizard.
On the Welcome page, click Next.
On the End User License Agreement page, read the License Agreement, select I accept the terms in the License Agreement, and then click Next.
On the FIM Customer Experience Improvement Program page, select I don’t want to join the program at this time, and then click Next.
On the Custom Setup page, click the drop-down list next to FIM Password and Authentication Extensions, select Entire feature will be unavailable.
Click Next.
On the Configure FIM Add-ins and Extensions page, in the box under FIM Portal Server address enter FIM1.
Leave the default of HTTPS checked.
On the Configure FIM Add-ins and Extensions page, in the box under FIM Service service account email address: enter FIMService@corp.contoso.com. Click Next.
Click Install.
Once the installation is complete, click Finish.
Repeat these steps on CLIENT2.
