Next HPC training in Redmond is focusing on V2
Windows HPC Server 2008 (aka. "V2") comes with a boatload of new features. More than worth an in-depth training. This post is meant to inform you about a rare opportunity to learn about Windows HPC Server 2008 from a developer and an IT professional perspective. We use early bits for all the labs!
Tentative agenda:
Day 1: CCS Infrastructure for the IT-Pro
· Overview of CCS v2
· Administration: all-in-one monitoring, diagnostics, reporting
· Administration: template-based deployment and patching; application installation and fail-over (when available in beta code)
· Changes to network configuration, diagnostics, performance tuning
· Storage options
Labs:
· Cluster deployment
· Infiniband configuration
· Operations and diagnostics
· Command-line operations with PowerShell
· Head node fail-over (once available)
Day 2: CCS Usage and Application Development
· The v2 scheduler: new, scalable architecture & features
· interoperability: WCF interface, XML profiles, v2 API
· development: tools for debugging/tracing, mpi.net libraries, plinq
Labs:
· Scheduling jobs using new features (e.g. partitions), including PowerShell scripting
· Developing a WCF component to interact with the cluster
· Developing CLR-managed MPI applications with mpi.net
