I've spoken to many SBSC partners about how we (Microsoft and the SBSC partner channel) can work collectively to build awareness of the Small Business Specialist Community (SBSC) to small business customers and to explain to them why they should choose to enlist the assistance of an small business specialist partner to address their IT needs. Utilising Microsoft's PR engine is one great way!
Not only can PR raise the profile of the SBSC partner channel, but it can also raise the individual profile of your business. Most media prefer to speak with end users about their real life scenarios of using and dealing with technology and/or utilising your skills as a partner, rather than directly to vendors or resellers. Using our PR team all press outreach, whilst focusing on the customer, endeavours to deliver exposure for both you (the partner) and for Microsoft - so it's win win all round. Alongside this, there are obvious benefits for your customer too...

- Have you got any customers who are on an early adopter programme for Windows Small Business Server 2008 that will share their experiences?
The only requirement of your customers is their time (approximately 30 mins) for an interview.
What makes a good press story?
A good press story will show how the use of technology has allowed a customer to respond to a specific problem or opportunity and achieve significant business benefits as a result. An example may be how technology has allowed a company to streamline internal processes and save significant costs, or free up resource to focus on more strategic operations, or compete more effectively with larger competition. Another example may be how technology has enabled a customer to open up a new route to market or roll out a new service to its customers with a positive benefit to sales revenue or customer satisfaction. If we can also talk about why they choose you, an SBSC partner, then we can promote the partner channel at the same time.
