Live From Redmond: Offline Data Synchronization and Caching for Smart Clients w/SQL Server Everywhere Edition (SSEv)

On Wednesday, August 16th I'll be giving a live webcast on building offline clients:

Wednesday, August 16, 2006 9:00 AM Pacific Time (US & Canada)

You can register here:

https://msevents.microsoft.com/cui/WebCastEventDetails.aspx?EventID=1032303880&EventCategory=4&culture=en-US&CountryCode=US

The abstract description is as follows:

One of the advantages of Smart Client development is supporting cached or fully disconnected operations. Built on the proven codebase of SQL Mobile, SQL Server Everywhere is a lightweight, in-proc database solution they can be easily deployed without struggling with the tradeoffs between JET, XML and SQL Express. Once you have a real database you need to think about different sync technologies. Steve covers the various architectures and sync options available today with SQL Server Everywhere including Merge Replication, Remote Data Access. We also cover the pros and cons of DataSet and SQL Server Query Notifications, as well as the future of sync for building Occasionally Connected Applications. Empower your users with Windows Client Applications that work where the user is, not where the network may be.

If you can make it live, that's great.  For those that can't I'm pretty sure the Live series are recorded.  Either way, I'll be posting screen casts on what you can use today, what we're shipping later this year, and what we're planning for the upcoming Orcas release.  If all goes well, I should be able to show some first public demos of our new Sync Framework we've been working on.

Hope you can make it,

Steve

I sadly missed the live presentation and I just logged in to download the webcast, but its only available as a streaming webcast.  Am I only one who sees the irony of having to be online to watch a webcast about Offline Data?

It is a little strange.  I will be posting additional screen casts that you'll be able to download.  We've got some early bits for the new sync runtime that I hope to post some screen casts of soon.
