Pie in the Sky (September 30, 2011)
How’d we get to the end of September already? Time flies when you’ve got good reading…speaking of which, here’s this week’s reading list. As usual, topics are wide-ranging…everything from experiments in deploying to Azure using NuGet to using push notification service on the phone. Enjoy…
- NuGet push...to Windows Azure: Maarten Balliauw shares some demo code for deploying to Windows Azure from NuGet.
- MongoDB on Azure: Documentation for running MongoDB on Windows Azure.
- xPath Values in Windows Azure: Starting with Windows Azure SDK 1.5 you can use the xPath element in a web role or a worker role service definition file to retrieve runtime configuration values.
- Running Processes in Windows Azure: One of the little known features of the Windows Azure SDK 1.5 (September 2011) Release is the ability to directly run executables on startup without writing custom code in your WorkerRole or WebRole entry point.
- Useful Node.js Tools, Tutorials, and Resources: The title says is all.
- Windows Azure Security Review: Not OSS-on-Azure specific, but useful nonetheless.
- Data Backup Strategies for Windows and SQL Azure: Again, not OSS-specific, but useful.
- Azure and Phone...Better Together: Using blob storage as a simple, scalable file system and using queues to enhance the push notification service on the phone.
- Episode 59 - Using the Windows Push Notification Service with Window Azure (VIDEO): Nick Harris—Technical Evangelist for Windows Azure—joins Steve and Wade to discuss the Windows Azure Toolkit for Windows 8.
- Watch What You Missed at BUILD 2011 : The Windows Azure Team lists resources for catching up on things you might have missed at BUILD 2011.
Have a great weekend.
