IE 8 Releasing to WSUS

On August 25th, Internet Explorer (IE) 8 will be offered through WSUS as an Update Rollup. On default installations of SBS, this will not be automatically approved for installation. You will need to manually approve it in the SBS Console or the WSUS Console. However, if you are automatically approving Update Rollups by manually configuring WSUS, then it is important for you to know that the IE 8 Installation Blocker Tool used to block Automatic Update deployments to your machines will not block WSUS deployments of IE 8. Once the update is approved for deployment to your chosen machines in WSUS, the users will be taken through a brief IE 8 setup while installing the latest round of updates.

Could you post some screen shots of what the end user will experience with the install. Would be helpful to provide a doc to the users before approving the update.Anonymous

Support, I approved IE8 for my Windows XP client PC's from WSUS 3.0 SP1 on a Windows SBS 2003 server. The update appeared on the client PC and says it was succesfully installed after a re-boot. However... once the PC booted up IE 6 remains. The users do NOT have administrative rights. I logged in as an administrator and the update was offered up again. Am I missing something, but shouldn't the update install on a users PC just like any other update sent from WSUS? Thanks, Bill V
