Hello Readers,
We have noticed a new issue with a missing registry key in Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003. The key that is missing is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftMicrosoft Integration5717D53E-DD6D-4d1e-8A1F-C7BE620F65AA. When your server is missing this key most of your SBS 2003 wizards will fail to run. Here are the most common symptoms of this issue:
- When you run certain Small Business Server 2003 Wizards, they fail with: “This wizard can only be run on a Small Business Server computer. ”
- SBS Backup Wizard will not display the retention selection screen
- SBS Backup Wizard will fail with: “An unexpected error occurred (80070057) The parameter is incorrect. ”
To resolve this issue you must restore or rebuild the missing registry key. Microsoft has developed a hotfix that will automatically rebuild this key on your Small Business Server. To acquire this fix call Microsoft Support and ask for hotfix 940318.
