VB.NET Tour in Dublin and Belfast means more than VB!

MSDN VB.NET Day, Dublin and Belfast If you're in Dublin or Belfast, don't forget that the VB.NET Product Team are paying a visit on April 10th and 11th as part of their EMEA tour.

Of course, the MSDN day will about much more than just the VB.NET language!

The morning will feature sessions on What's new in Visual Basic 2005, and Top Tips and Tricks from the VB Team, which will be ideal both for VB6 developers who are interested in looking at what's new in the latest incarnation of Visual Basic.NET, and also for current VB.NET developers looking to see what's new in 2005.

The day then moves into an Introduction to ASP.NET using VB 2005, and then deeper dives into Developing secure ASP.NET Applications (with Dominick Baier, a security expert from DevelopMentor), and the Windows Presentation Foundation (Avalon) for VB Developers.

I'm on tap for that WPF presentation, and I'm also going to see what I can do about providing a VB.NET-based intro to Atlas, the new libraries for ASP.NET that facilitate rapid development of client-side scripting.

As you probably know, your language choice between VB.NET or C# doesn't make a profound difference when discussing security, WPF or Atlas.  What's a few semicolons and squigglies between friends, right?  So the day is definitely applicable to the C# crowd.  I mean you all know by now that my native tongue isn't VB.NET, but I'll do my best :)

Very much looking forward to the days, and hope to see you there.

This tour looks like it is going to be awesome especially for students who want to improve their skills in VB2005.

FYI, Ive posted the event on my hub also so that many students in Dublin Uni's are aware of the event.

Darrell, thanks for posting the link - the content would indeed be ideal for anyone interested in web development in the most recent versions of .NET, including students.  It would be great to have some local student-oriented events with this content as well, and I'd be very happy to help make that happen! (hint hint) :)

Yes Rob, Ive been looking at holding a lunchtime lecture in TCD possibly on 13th April from 1-2pm on subject of Web Dev if you are available.

The target audience would not just be limited to Computer Science students and would draw students attention to the free downloadable Visual Web Developer aswell as using the tools on the sw to build an ASP.NET 2.0 website and entering it into the draw for a number of Xbox360's - http://www.microsoft.com/ireland/msdn/webdev/competition/
