Student webcast slides and survey results
I've posted the slides from yesterday's student webcast up at this link.
In my previous writeup this morning, which I've summarized in an article, I included links to the many resources I mentioned during the webcast.
Here are the results of the surveys that we included during the webcast:
Poll: Is this the first live webcast you’ve attended?
92% - Yes
8% - No
Poll: How familiar are you with developing in .NET?
34% - I haven't worked with it
24% - I've explored it a little
36% - I've done some projects
6% - I have extreme .NET skills
Poll: Has your curriculum exposed you to .NET?
64% - Not at all, and it isn't likely to
21% - It has, a little
6% - It will
11% - Yes, it has
Poll: Ideally, where should .NET be integrated into the curriculum?
11% - Introduction to programming courses (1st & 2nd year)
34% - Application-oriented courses (3rd & 4th year)
43% - Throughout the entire curriculum
12% - Only through project & research work
Poll: Have you ever obtained developer resources through MSDNAA?
11% - Yes
89% - No
(Note: To give a sense of numbers, there were on average over 50 participants in the webcast at any one time.)

Thanks for the note; I try to draw some conclusions in the attached summary article. The numbers suggest that student demand for .NET integration far exceeds its current uptake in the curriculum. And it's clear that - in Ireland anyway - students haven't been getting access to their developer resources through the MSDNAA program. As one student observed during the webcast, it is sometimes a challenge to get a hold of MSDNAA resources at the University or College. Thus, for students who want to differentiate themselves and learn skills to get .NET jobs in industry, now would be a very good time to get a hold of the free Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2 Experience DVDs!
