Messenger Live Beta Transformed (By Feedback?)
The Live Messenger Beta asked me last night if I wanted to update to a new version. I'm glad I did!!
A few weeks ago I sent the Messenger team some feedback based on the experiences of my friends and family who are using the beta.
My youngest sister -- a hardcore MSN Messenger user -- was so turned off by the beta that she went back to the previous version. Three specific pieces of feedback she gave were:
- The main window is cluttered.
At least now you can hide the Tabs. - The main window's advertisement is enormous!
It's still really annoying, but at least it's better - The new icons are confusing.
They've reverted to much more familiar icons in this version.
Of course they get heaps of feedback - but it's nice to feel like you've made an impact :)
Hooray!
[Update: Sorry, I'm all out of Messenger Beta invites... I wish I had more invites and could offer them here. Try here.]

It's cluttered enough in that screenshot that I have no desire to try it. - Anonymous

That miniature screenshot above shows the view before you hide the tabs to the left of your contact list. Also, you can reduce the size of the header a bit. So, it CAN get better.
But - fair comment - I still think it has way too much clutter.
I updated the image linked to from the above image to show the least cluttered view I could create. Click on the thumbnail to see.
It's better. Still some ways to go though... totally agreed.
