Free Xamarin For Windows Phone Developers

Developing for Windows Phone (especially previous to universal apps and now the Windows 10 Universal Platform) has historically been a difficult sell.  Windows Phone, by itself, is a distant third in the mobile market, so understandable the focus has been primarily on IOS and Android for mobile developers.  With the Windows 10 platform running on so many devices, this has changed.  Regardless, if you have already been developing for Windows Phone, here is a special bonus for you!  If you are registered Windows Phone Developer with a published app in the store previous to last week, you are eligible for a FREE XAMARIN LICENSE!!

i appreciate this offer, but this is kind of stupid. You should be giving away Xamarin to people to MAKE phone apps. Kind of silly to give it to them AFTER the fact. Microsoft stop being stupid, buy Xamarin and make it part of Visual Studio "natively".

Chris, Not sure Xamarin is for sale. Yes it would be a good idea, but I doubt it will happen any time soon. Question for the Xamarin people, I put in an application for partake on this offer. What time frame should I expect a reply?

I signed up for the offer on Aug 20. Haven't heard back from them, but I think it will take a couple of days.

I got the license, do you know if it is valid for just one year or if it will be automatically renewed for free?
