Issues with Epson Service Objects and .NET 2.0?
There have been numerous posts on the WEPOS newsgroup about various problems with the Epson service objects when running on .NET 2.0 so I'd like to let everyone know that Epson has posted an updated version of their OPOS ADK for .NET that supports POS for .NET 1.1/UPOS 1.9. I've installed it and it seems to work well with Visual Studio 2005 and the 2.0 version of the .NET framework. The new ADK can be downloaded from Epson's site at https://www.epsonexpert.com.
NOTE: One issue I ran into is that Epson seems to require POS for .NET 1.1 and will not install if POS for .NET 1.11 is installed. A simple work-around is to uninstall POS for .NET 1.11, install POS for .NET 1.1, and then install the Epson ADK and upgrade to POS for .NET 1.11.

I am having considerable problems with the Epson Service Objects. I have downloaded the latest version. But still have problems. Please check my logic below to see where I went wrong.
- Installed WEPOS from original MS CD.
- Installed dot net framework 1.1 and 2.0.
- Installed latest Epson Service Objects from epsonexperts website.
- Installed MS POS 1.11 upgrade (can't print if installed or not).
- Used Epson utility to setup a T88IIIP printer to LPT1:
- Tried to open Epson Check Health Utility, program fails to open is step 4. completed. If step 4 not completed, program opens.
- Test printer created in 5. Got error message. Unable to load dll ESDPAX01.dll. Error code 0x8007045a.
- Installed MS POS SDK, to get test POS test application.
- Tested printer with MS Test App. Got same results as 7. with ot without step 4. results the same.
- Have checked, the file is in the correct Epson directory. I have tried all sorts of combinations of MS POS 1.1, and 1.11, and using the MS tools and the Epson tools. I always get a failure. Any and all advice would be greatly apreciated. Thanks in advance. Mark

Hi, concerning the issue that EPSON requires POS for .NET 1.1 I've found a more simple work-around: Within the registry change HKLMSoftwarePOSfor.NETSetupProductVersion from "1.11.1139.0" to e.g. "1.1.725.0" and the EPSON setup would install. After setup don't forget to update the version ... Greetings, KarstenAnonymous

Hello, I've used Epson opos adk for .net Version 1.9 with .Net framework 2.0, Printing seems to be slower Then the Previous Version of 1.8 in .Net frameWork 1.1, I mean to say that it's taking the time while to get print. I'm really feeling sad, after all I've been waiting for this new Version since long, and now performance is pretty slow, Is this because of new pos sdk 1.11 or Epson adk 1.9. Would you please tell, how to solve this biggest problem. Thanks you.Anonymous

Ramesh, We haven't seen this issue before, and as far as we're aware there were no changes made in POS for .NET 1.11 that would cause it to be slower. I suggest you post this question to the WEPOS newsgroup to see if others have run into the issue and have a solution. Thanks, ~Shayna (MS)Anonymous
