Product Availability for Vista SP1, XP SP3, and Windows Home Server
In response to Color's comments/questions:
Vista SP1 is expected to RTM in the first quarter of 2008, and we would expect to have it on Subscriber Downloads very shortly after release.
XP SP3 (did you mean Office or Windows XP?)
- Windows XP SP3 “SP3 for Windows XP Professional" is currently planned for 1H CY2008. This date is preliminary.
(From https://www.microsoft.com/windows/lifecycle/servicepacks.mspx) - Office XP SP3 is a public download: https://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=85AF7BFD-6F69-4289-8BD1-EB966BCDFB5E&displaylang=en.
Windows Home Server - our acquisitions team is working with the product group to include this in the MSDN offering. We expect it will be offereed, but we do not have an estimate of availability.
As of 11/15/07 the timing for availability of Windows Home Server to Subscribers is still not finalized.

Thanx for your quick reply. I am referring to beta versions of windows xp sp3 and vista sp1. I am really looking forward for WHS. It has gone RTM long long back. Will keep an eye on this blog for your announcements. Thanx again.Anonymous

Well that's a bummer -- spent $200 on a dev copy last night after reading in several places that it wouldn't be offered on MSDN. Question: Can I legally sell this copy? It's unopened -- in fact, it hasn't even shipped, but it's too late to cancel.Anonymous

Jeff - given that we are not certain we'll have it and when - probably a wise move to have picked it up if you need it. Colors - It currently looks like we will NOT be adding Beta1 of Vista SP1 to the Subscriber Downloads site.Anonymous

@MSDNSubscriptions: that's really bad news as we are developing especially for Vista SP1. Is there any other chance to get a Vista SP1 copy? Thanks.Anonymous

As far as Windows Home Server - the details are still be worked out with the Product Group. It is looking like it will be available, but details of timing have not been communicated yet. This will likely be available for MSDN Subscribers but probably NOT for TechNet Subscribers, since an IT organization would not likely be evaluating Home Server to deploy inside their corporate network. As far as Vista SP1 Beta, my understanding is that there are some individuals or organizations who do have access to the BETA of Vista SP1 but they must have non-disclosure agreements already in place with Microsoft. I do not know what avenues or programs they are accessing the Beta through. I do know that Subscriptions is NOT one of these programs. If versions (existing or new) do become more broadly available, we certainly will strive to make them available to you.Anonymous

Kind of a moot point WHS being made available, until it supports x64 clientsAnonymous

It has been nearly a month, and WHS is still not available via MSDN subscriptions. Is there any update? Maybe an ETA at least?
