MEDC 2007: Sumo Competition Update.
Wanted to give you an update on the Sumo Competition at MEDC 2007 - The hardware 'porting lab' will start at 8:00pm on the preconference day.
If you are at the conference center before 8pm then you can still take part in the competition - sound ok ?

That sounds good, thanks. Also, do you know if they will release another sumoplayer sample with working bump sensors before the competition? or is there anything we can do now to make them work?Anonymous

I'm also having issues with the bump sensors. Is this a known problem. If yes, whats the resolution??? Also, Ive noticed that 2 other people on the Robotics forum are having the same issue. Though no one has addressed it. HELPAnonymous

I've pinged the Robotics Studio team, hopefully someone will jump on the blog and forum to answer the question.

Thanks for pointing out the problem with the bumpers. We've tracked it down to a problem with the SimulatediRobotLite service. You have two options to fix this:
- Wait until the end of this week when we release the May CTP
- Download the fixed source to the SimulatediRobotLite service and compile it. You can find the updated source for this service at: http://research.microsoft.com/users/kylej/simulatedirobotlite.zip Unzip the file into the SimulatedSumoServices directory and build SimulatediRobotLite. The next time you run your sumo player, you should see bumper updates. This source code falls under the same license terms as the other source code distributed with MSRS. I haven't been able to find other posts about this issue in our MSRS forums. Can you give me a pointer to them? -Kyle

I had also asked this questions in the Microsoft Robotics - Community forum: http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1489700&SiteID=1 It has now also been answered with this information, thanks. Is that the correct place to ask these types of questions, or is there a better place? Thanks for your helpAnonymous

The Robotics Studio forum is the right place to ask these questions.
