Still no electricity in 450,000+ St. Louis homes
Even though Ameren has deployed 1500+ crews. The ice coverage is pretty amazing here. Just around the lake where I live the trees are so heavily covered that few are able to stand upright and the older, taller trees have significant limb damage. I saw one house where a very large tree fell right across the driveway. That would be a rude awakening. The result of the tree damage is we probably won't have power for 4-5 days until the ice melts. According to the power representative on the radio, as soon as they have one section of the grid repaired another tree falls and takes out a transformer, so it's a cat and mouse game.
We drove up to Springfield, IL today to visit family. Aaah, power, hot water, wireless Internet...
