Skipping time in demo's, is it ok?
I'm in the process of rebuilding my Vista deployment demo to use in upcoming roadshows. In several places I hit a point where files would need to copy from one VM to another, running setup over the network , etc.
IMHO, it's much more interesting at that point to shut down the VM and open a new one where the process is complete. However, I get a feeling deep-down that when people see that they tend to wonder if there is some smoke and mirrors going on where something might have failed and the presenter is taking the easy way out. That's really not it, the presenter just wants to save the audience from watching files copy for the next 10-15 minutes! I have to wonder, is it ok to "skip time" in a demo?
