Dinner with Geeks

If you're in the Seattle area today, come join Scoble, Jeff
Julian and who knows how many other geeks with blogs for dinner at the
Crossroads Mall food court in Bellevue, WA at 6:30 PM. 

Coincidentally, Jeff posts a very
nice picture of my second favorite art-ifact on the Microsoft campus. 
It is a grafitti encrusted chunk of the Berlin Wall.

    It is a magical black, white, and yellow photo transparency by Tokihiro Sato entitled "5ta. Ave. y 24 Miramar " whose subject is a gigantic Banyan tree. Its trunk is surrounded by lights that appear to be hanging in middair like overgrown fireflies and it bears an uncanny resemblance to the banyan tree under which I married my wife on the island of Kauai. I can't share a photo of this particular photo but you can see similar ones at http://www.tonkonow.com/sato.html. If memory serves, "5ta. Ave. y 24 Miramar " is straight down the hall from the Berlin wall chunk. Both are in building 33, which is the Microsoft Convention Center. If you come to campus for some event or another, there's a good chance that you'll go there and can see these wonderful works of art in person. If you live in the Seattle area or happen to be here on business, Michael Klein (mklein@microsoft.com), who is Microsoft's art curator, conducts public tours of the portion of our collection which is stored in building 33 almost every Friday evening from 6PM-8PM.

    Oops, Michael informs me that MSFT art tours are the last Thursday of each month, not every Friday as previously stated.
