Hi Kevin, nice solution i'd like to use it when I will change scom 2012 sp1 to 2012 r2. But I have a question about management packs. When I make this recovery do I have to install all my management packs again and make new configuration(dependencies,...)?Thanks.Marek - Anonymous

This recovery should never be used as an intentional part of an upgrade. It should only be used as a last resort when you somehow need to recover a MS. If you did use this recovery - it would have no bearing on MP's, as the MP's are in the database.- Anonymous

Hi,thanks for answer. Is there any option how to move all MPs,settings,... into new server?Or just create new database and start with clear datats.I'd like to update OS from Serevr 2008 r2 to 2012 R2 and scom from 2012 sp1 to R2 but I have to use new server.- Anonymous

If you want to do in place upgrade from SCOM 2012 SP1 to SCOM 2012 R2, AND you want to use newer OS management servers.... you should probably do that in two steps. First, backup EVERYTHING, take snapshots of VM's, SQL, MP backups, etc. Next - upgrade from 2012SP1 to 2012R2. Then, add new additional SCOM 2012R2 management servers, migrate agents, roles, and resource pools, and then decommission your old management servers.- Anonymous
