Windows Mobile Data Synchronisation book now available
My colleague Rob Tiffany has now published his book - Windows Mobile Data Synchronization with SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server Compact 3.1
This book provides great guidance and insight into how to build scaleable SQL Server based mobile solutions.
Rob has been on an ongoing quest to push the envelope with Mobile Merge Replication between SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server Compact 3.1.
Using a 4-Tier Mobile Merge Replication architecture, he managed to get 1,200 concurrent Subscribers to change and replicate ~15 Million rows of data per hour! Each Subscriber makes changes to an entire row of data per sync and each row contains 116 bytes of data. Since each Subscriber changes a different row of data than his 1,199 friends, the entire system processes 1,200 different row changes per sync. This means I'm moving about 1.6 GB of data between SQL Server and 1,200 SSC Subscribers each hour.
Those of you in the continental U.S. can buy it directly from the Hood Canal Press site at https://www.hoodcanalpress.com and get free shipping. It just showed up on Amazon in the U.S. so you can order it at https://www.amazon.com/Windows-Mobile-Synchronization-Server-Compact/dp/0979891205/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1199146795&sr=1-3
