CodePlex Discussions at TechEd Boston

I will be attending TechEd in Boston in June. If you have questions about CodePlex (https://codeplex.com) or ideas on what we need to do to improve I would like to talk with you. As it gets closer I will be setting up some specific times and a place but please feel free to contact me. I look forward to meeting with you and getting feedback on how we can improve the site.

i don't think you can expect much ideas on how to improve the site since codeplex is still in beta stage with a limited number of projects and therefore a limited number of actual users.

I have one question I can pass you right now:
"Will it be possible to setup private projects?"

I disagree a bit with your assertion that I should not expect meaningful feedback. You are correct the site is still in beta and we are increasing the number of projects and users incrementally.  However, we are planning the future of the site and if people want to make the investment of checking the site out they could have a significant impact on our development.

"Will it be possible to setup private projects?"
The CodePlex site is for community based projects that develop and share their code with the community. We have no plans to support private projects on this site.

Jim, I'll be at TechEd as I have a BOF session about SharePoint and will be spending most of my time in the Office System Track in the Technical Learning Center hosting sessions, answering questions, and generally carrying on like the code monkey I am. Would love to get together and chat so drop by sometime.

Jim, I do not see how it is possible for people to have a significant impact on the development of codeplex. The site went public on 05-11 and will move from beta to release before the month's out. How can you expect any useful feedback if the site is not usable in the meantime? I hope everything works out. I and my team look forward to see our project on CodePlex. Sometime after the official release, in late June.

I have questions! I'm a reporter (for CRN), and am very interested in CodePlex. I understand it's still beta and a lot remains to be worked out, but I would love to learn more about how it came about and what the hope/intent is for its future. If you're free for a quick chat at the show, it would be great to set something up ... my email is scowley[at]cmp.com. Thanks.

I find it interesting that I get comments like the ones above that people cannot provide useful feedback. The comments are correct the site did go live less than a month ago. In that time there have been a significant number of people who have visited the site and who use the site. Given the two comments above it seems it is wrong to ask for feedback.

Yep, I bought it. Hugh, the witty creator of gapingvoid.com, has a commemorative coaster for Robert Scoble...
