Virtual Earth captures sinking ship

It really was a case of now you see it, now you don't with the "Cariddi II" - a ship that sunk recently off Sicily.  I found this via VirtualGlobeTrotter and wanted to share it with you.  The "Bird's Eye View", unique to Virtual Earth, was able to capture the before and after stages whilst the ship sank as you can see below.  If you view the scene from the east, the ship is nice and relaxed next to the other ships on the dock.  From the west however is a very different scene with the ship 90% submerged!

How did this happen though?  Surely the images should be the same?  Well actually, no and this these screenshots actually illustrate how Bird's Eye View works.  Basically a plane with an extremely high powered camera flies in a very structured path up and down a grid taking photos.  The plane photographed the ship before and after - although it's difficult to guess the time between East and West shots - let's say that the Eastern image was taken at 8am and then by the time the plane flew by again say at 11am to take the Western image, the ship had sunk.
