Cool things you should know about Windows Live #1 - Foldershare
We're releasing quite a bit of new stuff - some in beta, some final release - around Windows Live and I'm finding that much of the time people aren't aware of what some of the cool pieces are.
So I decided it might be useful to blog a few of these, and rather than trying to do it all in one go (which people might not read) I've split them up into bite-sized chunks that I'll blog over a period of time - starting today.
What is it?
Allows you to access files on your home PC from any web browser eg from your work machine.
Or the other way around.
Or, in fact, allow you to access files from any number of machines from any web browser.
Actually you can do more than that (eg keep a folder synchronized automatically between multiple machines, share files with friends) but the ability to remotely access your entire hard drive, from a browser, is a key plus for me.
What's cool about it?
- It's free
- It's really easy to set up and use
- There are plenty of other usage scenarios
- It simply works
Where do I get it?

I had blogged about it some times back in the last month. Yes, people don't know much about this, though Microsoft acquired it & put it under Live services long time back.Anonymous

Thanks vasudev. Agree it's not as well known as it should be, given how useful it isAnonymous

I guess the fact that Microsoft acquired it is the reason it's based on PHP. Seemed strange that MS would launch a product based on PHP rather than ASP. ;)Anonymous
