US Presidential inauguration
|
US President Barack Obama's inauguration was the largest new media event ever, with internet users accessing and uploading videos, photos, text and having access to the best vantage points. Microsoft was able to capture the inaugural moment through Photosynth. Photosynth is a Microsoft technology that creates 3D spaces and 360 degree images, from multiple still images. The new social media application was used by CNN.com during Inauguration Day – which became known as The Moment . CNN asked viewers to send in digital images of the moment of President Obama's swearing-in, and then used Microsoft's Photosynth technology to pull together a montage of hundreds of photos, which can be zoomed in on, making you feel that you were there. The use and application of the new social media application took citizen journalism to an entirely new level. |
