The Next 100
Microsoft is partnering with The Australian and The Weekend Australia Magazine on ‘The Next 100’. Over the next three months, the campaign will name 100 of Australia’s young and emerging leaders; those who are on the rise or in newly established in roles of influence and leadership. The Next 100 series will officially launch in The Weekend Australian Magazine and on The Australian website on April 4. Here’s a note from Tracey Fellows, Managing Director, Microsoft Australia, on the campaign: |
Inspiring Young Leaders Today, for a better Tomorrow
What do you look for in a leader? Someone strong? Someone charismatic? A person with political prowess or perhaps someone with the physical acumen of a sporting hero. Do you look to your neighbour or your local school or your local fire brigade? Do you look in the mirror and see a leader? What is it that characterises a leader and what are the qualities that we cherish in one?
Often we perceive leaders as those at the top end of government or business. Instead, I believe that we see leadership around us every day. Frequently, it emerges when we least expect it, and usually when we are most in need.
Leadership is about great people overcoming obstacles, seizing opportunities, and striving to achieve great things. So that our leaders of tomorrow continue to aspire to greatness, it’s important that we continue to foster a culture that encourages our young Australians to realise their full potential. That may be a gold star in the classroom, recognition from university peers, or creating the right policy settings to allow artists and entrepreneurs to thrive.
Together with our industry partners, universities, schools, community groups and government, Microsoft is already working to help Australians achieve their full potential through initiatives like industry assistance schemes, software donations, and technology skills and training programs.
Now, we are proud to further foster a culture of leadership through our support of the Next 100 program, which will recognise the next generation of inspirational individuals who will help improve the world in which we live.
Over coming weeks, I look forward to learning more about this unique group of inspirational individuals and to celebrating their initiative in helping to create a better Australia.
