Privacy Awareness Week

Last week, Microsoft’s Chief Privacy Strategist, Peter Cullen, visited Australia as part of Privacy Awareness Week. His visit included meetings with privacy advocates; presenting Microsoft’s Small and Medium Business Award at the Australian Privacy Awards; addressing the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), Australian Computer Conference for Seniors, and Australian Direct Marketing Association (ADMA); as well as conducting several media interviews. Peter Cullen during his tenure at Microsoft has been a leading advocate for strong and innovative personal information privacy and data safeguards, and visited Australia last year at the invitation of the Office of the Privacy Commissioner to address a series of forums.

Prior to joining Microsoft in July 2003, Peter served as the corporate privacy officer for the Royal Bank of Canada, responsible for influencing initiatives relevant to its strategic approach to privacy.

In 2003, he was honoured with the IAPP Vanguard Award for Privacy Innovation for his contributions to the privacy profession.
