This month, Microsoft signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Queensland Government at Microsoft headquarters, Redmond, Seattle. The signing took place in the presence of Queensland Minister for ICT, the Hon Rob Schwarten; Mal Grierson, Director General, Department of Public Works; and Ralph Young, Vice President, Worldwide Public Sector, Microsoft.
The MoU includes:
· A commitment to spend from the Queensland Services Provision Fund (SPF) within the next 12 months.
· Begin negotiations between Queensland Government agencies and Microsoft on potential agreements
· Use of Microsoft consulting services.
The Queensland government delegation in Redmond was also briefed of Microsoft’s research and development facilities, as well as a demonstration of new products such as ‘Surface,’ a device which turns an ordinary tabletop into a dynamic surface that can be used to display pictures, images and play music.
