Helping families with the provision of food

Microsoft was awarded Foodbank’s Collaboration Award at the Australian Food and Grocery Council Industry Leaders Conference in Canberra last month.

This year’s Foodbank Collaboration Award was presented to the members of the Rinaldi Pasta Project which made possible the production of 800 tonnes of pasta aimed at meeting the deficit of key staple foods faced by Foodbank.

A grant from the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs allowed the pasta project to get underway.  Foodbank was able to leverage each dollar of the initial grant to create $10.50 worth of food through the support of their corporate partners.

Foodbank is the largest hunger relief organisation in Australia that is relied upon as the pantry of those providing support to needy families.  They are a national organisation, with distribution centres across Australia.

The award was presented by the Hon. Joe Ludwig, Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry to Foodbank’s corporate partners in this project.
