Early Years Literacy Program

Cherbourg Cherbourg State School Principal Jo Ross and Microsoft Queensland Public Sector Director, Peter Grant with Cherbourg students

Microsoft Queensland Public Sector Director, Peter Grant and Community Affairs Manager, Paul Clark were invited last week to celebrate some very special books and films created by the students of Cherbourg State School produced through The Smith Family’s Early Years Literacy Program.

The program is an extension of Let’s Read, an initiative of the Centre for Community Child Health, and developed and implemented across Australia in partnership with The Smith Family.

Let's Read is designed to encourage parents to have fun reading with their young children, to help develop a love of books and the ability to name letters and play with the sounds of words. These are some of the building blocks that will help children learn to read and write when they get to school.

Microsoft is a proud supporter of the Cherbourg Community and the work they have been doing with The Smith Family.
