Did you know Australians lose an estimated $1 billion every year in scams?

Every year, one in twenty Australians will fall victim to a scam. Sadly, many people don’t know they are being scammed until it is too late. Scammers try to trick people into giving up personal or financial details by promising things like easy money, great prizes or true love. Scams also come in many forms – by mail, email, telephone, over the internet, or even door to- door, and scammers can even use text messages or fraudulent profiles in social networking sites to pretend to be someone known and trusted.  To help create greater awareness of scams, and what can be done, Microsoft has recently partnered with the Australasian Consumer Fraud Taskforce.
