$500,000 in software donated to emergency and disaster response agencies

A large number of our staff contributed very generously to appeals led by Microsoft Australia over the past year to support the Red Cross in disaster relief. We also added the Australian Red Cross as one of our regular Workplace Giving Partners, which includes Foodbank, Sids and Kids, Create Foundation, Youth Off the Streets, Cancer Council and the Worldwide Wildlife Fund. The program allows Microsoft Australia to match donations made by full time employees. Of course, technology plays an important part by providing many emergency response organisations with tools they need to act quickly and accurately, and we are proud that in addition to donations, we also donated around $500,000 worth of software to these organisations in 2009.

In response to the devastating earthquake in Haiti this week, Microsoft Australia will be matching donations made by full time employees to the Australian Red Cross.
