Download and burn movies from Movielink or Rent on iTunes?

I just noticed two movie downloading service announcements and just found this interesting. 

• iTunes rumored to offer downloading movies only as rentals
• Sonic and Movielink now are teamed up to offer burning of downloaded dvds

I thought it was interesting because it seems strange to me that publishing companies will not allow movies to be downloaded permanently to Apple's players from Apple's store.
