Last week Microsoft ran a series of webcasts for the press, focusing on their virtualisation and cloud services (and the tools and technologies around them). Calling them "Cloud Week", the company talked about Azure, App Fabric, Hyper-V and the like, looking at both private and public clouds. One of the most interesting of the sessions was on private clouds, looking at the next release of its System Center Virtual Machine Manager, Virtual Machine Manager 2012, currently available as a part of a closed Community Test Program (CTP). During the session Microsoft demonstrated using the CTP version of VMM 2012, noting that it would be released in the second half of the year, with a public beta before launch.
