Where is the file menu in Word?
In case you're as stupid as I am...
You get to the file menu operations in the new Word by clicking on the round "jewel" in the upper left.
I'm afraid I won't admit how long it took me to figure this out.

Fortunately, a lot of keyboard mnemonics (like good ol ALT-F) still work, and in that case will drop down the jewel/pearl/whatever it's called.Anonymous

I wasn't looking for the file menu but I was wondering: "what will happen when I click on the Office logo" and then it showed up DenisAnonymous

If you want to make yourself feel better, check out Jensen Harris's blog for all the people over there that had trouble finding it, and then correctly predicted that a lot of other people would have trouble finding it too. Apparently this didn't worry the Office team, since it "just takes a little training", and then the user knows where it is forever.Anonymous

The one saving grace was that it 'pulsed' when ran the first time. I'm getting used to the ribbon now, but am not sure why the file menu isn't a ribbon page. Undo and re-do/page up/page down were also hard ones to work out, being hidden in the window frame. Oh well, we'll get used to it. For MS sake, I hope it doesn't put too many users off.Anonymous

The pulse when you first install was an RTM addition - my g/f had similar problems locating the file menu and they responsed to my bug request :)Anonymous

I love that the Office team's answer to "Where's the File Menu" is "Let's make it pulse!" I don't know about everyone else, but I'm sick of things pulsing, blinking, throbbing, popping, flashing, and generally being annoying. Frickin' hippies!Anonymous

Instead of having the button throb when the program is used, perhaps they should have had a retro "Click here to begin" arrow slide along the caption, Win95-style :)
