Ninja Warrior

My daughter found some broadcasts of a show named "Ninja Warrior" (originally named Sasuke in its Japanese broadcast), which is currently running on G4TV. It's an elaborate obstacle course show, with an English voiceover on top of the Japanese commentary.

Not only do you get to see some really talented athletes, you also get to see ordinary people crash and burn on the first stage, falling into the muddy water.

Recommended.

I've seen that before.  There was another Japanese show named MXC or something like that (short for Most Extreme Challenge) that was very similar. Oddly enough, there is a Japanese cartoon named Naruto about ninjas (children training to be ninjas, and the village they live in) where one of the main character's name is Sasuke.

Sasuke is the name of a legendary samurai in Japanese folklore. Being a fan of both Naruto AND Ninja Warrior, I should know. Anyhow, my wife is hooked in Ninja warrior now too. I've been watching rabidly now for months. I especially love it when the most ridiculous costumes come out like Superman, and the infamous "octopus guy"

I love this show, been watching it for a while, the commentary though is what I think makes it. While the show would be cool to watch once or twice the live action over excited commentary is what makes it.

MXC was great... "Don't get eliminated!", "Right you are Ken!"
