Going to Seward for a week

We're taking a family vacation to Seward in a week or so. We're planning on doing some fishing and taking a boat tour, but I'm wondering if there's anything else that we should do.

Any other "must see" sites? Any places for great photos?

I am going to laze around part of the time, but if I do that too much, the trip might turn into a folly...

Eric, checkout <a href="http://www.nps.gov/kefj/trip_planning/What%20to%20see%20and%20do/Exit%20Glacier.htm">Exit Glacier</a> too.  It's not far from Seward and worth the short drive.  Also, if you get a bit of weather, checkout the <a href="http://www.alaskasealife.org/">Alaska Sealife Center</a>.  Have a great trip.

Go eat at <a href="http://www.lebarnappetit.com/aboutus.html">Le Barn Appetite</a>.  Don't be put off by the appearance.

we enjoyed looking the at the Portage glacier - and the drive to Whittier is a certainly an experience.... but get on the water and see the glacier's calving, the otters and all the orcas - that was our highlight of the Seward area.  The sealife centre we thought wasn't very exciting.    The Exit glacier is great, but the fun police stop you getting close to it - went on about safety or something - I didn't really understand :)

and take lots of bug spray.

I lived up in Anchorage for a bunch of years and spent a bit of time down in Seward.  +1 for the Sealife center.  That's a great place to visit.  Portage glacier's OK, but it's receeded so far that there's not really a lot to see, IMO.  Exit glacier's a great hike, as is Mt Marathon.  There are a number of other great hikes in the area too -- Lost Lake, just up the road a bit north from Seward, is a very good one, as is Ptarmigan Lake.

That's a seriously great corner of our land to go visit.  Have a great time!
