Ultimate User Input Device?
The Optimus mini 3-key auxiliary keyboard has to be the ultimate user input device. Well, maybe “ultimate” is a bit of a stretch, but its close <grin>.
This keyboard is likely to be handy in applications where a standard input device just won’t do. Using OLED technology, it looks promising where one needs high brightness to be seen or to draw attention.
Animation at 5 frames per second just adds to the cool factor and the possible applications. How many times have you been unsure of what would happen after selecting an icon? Imagine how a mini-preview would increase the user’s understanding, or desire, to make a specific selection, check out all the demos.
Yea, for about the same amount of money you can get some of these features with a touch screen add-on to your conventional display. But I’ve always found that touch screens leave something to be desired because of their lack of tactile feedback.
Here's an excellent IEEE presentation on OLED (pdf format)

I think this is a neat gadget, but it practically useless because it only has 3 keys. - Anonymous
