The Hidden Language of Computers.
Technorati Tags: Xpe
Recently, a coworker asked if there were any “resources to help high-school students to develop their skills and passions” for computers. Some time ago, I had come across the book Code: The Hidden Language of Computer Hardware and Software, by Charles Petzold which is, as far as I know, the only book that provides the layperson a perspective on what computers and coding is all about. I passed this recommendation on and had my recommendation enthusiastically seconded by another coworker.
This second coworker cautioned, however, that the people he had given this book to now think that all he does is “figure out how to put together telegraphs to light up a few light bulbs” <grin>
