More Parallelism

While rooting around in my mail folders, I found an item from last year that makes a great follow-up to my Fundamental Parallelism posting. In March of '06 Herb Sutter gave a talk at the renowned Palo Alto Research Center titled "Software and the Concurrency Revolution". In this one hour presentation, Herb starts with an overview of the background and the issues involved in concurrency. He then goes on to describe his ideas for abstracting concurrency. My big take away is "locks don't aggregate".
