Location of XPe updates is changing at the end of January

If you have not downloaded any security updates for XP Embedded recently, or not otherwise logged into the OEM Secure site, you may have missed the notice regarding the location change for the updates coming at the end of January. Here, courtesy of Gina on the XPe team, is the info you need to know:

Direct OEMs
Product Downloads, also referred to as Product Updates or Supplemental Code, are currently available to Direct OEMs on the restricted access Embedded OEM Web Site and on MS OEM Online (MOO). The Embedded OEM Web Site will retire on January 31, 2007. Beginning February 1, 2007, Downloads will be available to Direct OEMs on MOO only. All other resources previously posted on the Embedded OEM web site are now available on the Mobile & Embedded Communications Extranet (ECE).

  • For access to MOO, please email the MS OEM Online Helpdesk, moohelp@microsoft.com.
  • For access to the ECE, please email MS Mobile & Embedded Communications Feedback & Support, ECE@microsoft.com.

Your Microsoft Account Manager can assist with any questions in this regard.

Embedded Distributors and OEMs Who Purchase Through Distribution
Beginning February 1, 2007, all Downloads will be available to OEMs and viewable by MS Authorized Embedded Distributors (MS Distributors) on the Mobile & Embedded Communications Extranet (ECE). As the migration is currently underway, select Downloads are available now on the ECE. All other resources previously posted on the Embedded OEM web site are now available on the ECE.

Since I have been having problems with my sound and no one can figure out how to help me.  I am truly disturbed that this announcement has just come and over with.  I am a self taught disabled senior citizen and feel you are just trying to make us buy new computers.  I don't have the funds to do this as my medical takes up any free monies we have.

Sandi, This announcement should not have an influence on you if you are using any Microsoft product other than the Windows XP EMBEDDED operating system (which is a completely different product from XP Professional or XP Home operating systems). If you are needing help with your XP Pro or XP Home system you can post a question to the XP general newsgroup - http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/newsgroups/reader.mspx?dg=microsoft.public.windowsxp.general&lang=en&cr=US or at the XP Music newsgroup at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/newsgroups/reader.mspx?dg=microsoft.public.windowsxp.music&lang=en&cr=US Thanks for your post. "A mailing was sent out quite some time ago with information about the new ECE site, and new account information for accessing ECE." I am responsible for our XPe development and I received no notice. I suppose this was snail mail to someone in our accounting department? I emailed the ECE and I still have no access to the new site. You should have notified the people that actually used the oem site!

Andrew, Thank you for your post and feedback. During the migration of the product downloads to the ECE, we did use multiple methods to notify users of the Embedded OEM web site of the upcoming change, including notices posted on the Embedded OEM web site itself, email announcements, and the Microsoft account management team.  I am sorry that despite our efforts, you were unaware of the change.  Based on your feedback and input from other customers, we are increasing our communication efforts to ensure all users are contacted and educated on the change to the ECE. Our team has set your access to the ECE, and we are pleased that you are now using the site.  In addition to the Product Downloads there are many additional resources and site features that we hope are very useful to you.  If you have any questions about the ECE, please let us know and we’ll be happy to assist you.  Feel free to contact our team directly by emailing ECE@microsoft.com, or calling +1 775-828-6789. We will be sure to announce any future changes regarding Windows XP Embedded Updates to subscribers of the ECE Weekly Summary, as well as in the Embedded newsgroup or in the Embedded Devwire newsletter. Should you have any further questions or comments, do not hesitate to let me know by emailing ECE@microsoft.com. Best Regards, Katy Shaw Site Manager, Mobile & Embedded Communications Extranet (ECE) and Embedded OEM Web Site
